Avalanche warning for some areas in J&K

A medium danger avalanche warning was issued today for some avalanche-prone areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued the warning that would be valid for the next 24 hours starting at 5 PM today.
"Medium danger avalanche warning exists for avalanche- prone slopes of Kupwara, Kargil and Bandipora districts of Jammu and Kashmir. People are advised not to move in these areas," the SASE advisory said.
Among other places which had received fresh spell of snowfall until this morning included Banihal Top (22 cm), Gulmarg (6 cm), Haddan Taj (13 cm), Drass (8 cm) and Pharkian (15 cm) in J&K, it added.
