The girl, a third year B.Tech student, had withdrawn Rs 50,000 cash from an ATM booth. She gave Rs 10,000 to a friend and kept the remaining amount in her bag, police said.
The two girls were walking towards Kaushalaya hostel in Knowledge Park when the bike-borne youth came and tried to snatch the victim's bag near Gurdwara Road, they said.
When the girl resisted, one of them shot at her and she suffered a bullet injury in her leg. They fled from the spot with the bag which contained Rs 40,000.
A case has been registered and a search launched for the accused, they added.
Meanwhile in Noida, armed men struck at the house in Chaura Raghuathpur village and robbed three LPG cylinders, mobile phones, cash and other valuables after overpowering a 14-year-old boy and locking him inside a room.
The boy was alone at home as his parents had gone to their neighbours' house.
