Babul calls for digital transaction by people

Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo today called upon people to adopt digital means of transaction.
Inaugurating a "Digidhan Mela" here to create awareness on the use of digital technology for monetary transactions, the minister expressed confidece that the demonetisation move would yield positive results.
"It will increase the tax payers' base and thereby generate more funds for development activities," he said.
In today's programme, Lucky Grahak Yojana and Digidhan Vyapar Yojana schemes, introduced by the Prime Minister last December to popularise e-payments and mobile banking was also discussed by R Prasad, VP, National Payments Corporation of India.
Speaking on the occasion, R K Mohapatra, Executive Director of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, mentioned that digital transactions had considerably gone up in the retail and company-owned outlets of the oil companies.
A number of PSU banks also participated in the Digidhan Mela and imparted technical knowhow to the fair visitors about digital methods of transaction.
Niti Aayog Advisor S Naik was also present on the occasion.
