Bad weather stalls Akhilesh's visit to Guj for Pravasi Divas

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today failed to make it to the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas event in Gujarat due to bad weather which did not allow his aircraft to take off.
Yadav was to address a special session of the PBD today and also interact with prominent NRIs and ask them to invest in his state.
The Chief Minister was scheduled to fly from Saifai in Etawah after attending the 'Saifai Mahotsav' which ended last night. But, due to dense fog, he could not proceed to Gujarat and instead returned to the state capital.
UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan and Principal Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal are among senior state government officials attending the meet in Gandhinagar.

Uttar Pradesh officials had lodged a protest with the Gujarat government over removal of 'UP Rising' posters and hoardings put up on the route from Ahmadabad airport to Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas venue, while describing the move as "illegal".
Ruling Samajwadi Party had dubbed the move as "undemocratic and unjustified".

SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury had said, "Hoardings highlighting development of the state (UP) are being removed. It seems Gujarat administration is afraid that details of development in UP will expose Gujarat model of development tom-tommed by BJP."
Sehgal had shot off a letter to his Gujarat counterpart, drawing his attention to Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation removing 60 publicity materials highlighting development initiatives of the UP Chief Minister Yadav at the PBD event.

"They (AMC) also warned the agency which had put up the hoardings that they should remove the remaining ones or face consequences," Sehgal said in the letter, demanding that Gujarat authorities issue instructions to rectify the "mistake".
UP government's information department had put up around 100 "UP Rising" hoardings from the airport to the event venue in Gandhinagar which were to stay till January 15.
