Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today oversaw the arrangements for an agriculture summit to be held in Mohali, near here, this month.
The Chief Minister visited Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial, the venue of Progressive Punjab Agriculture Summit (PPAS) to be held from February 16-19, a spokesperson said.
Ten chief ministers from various states, other senior national leaders of different political parties and top agriculture experts are expected to attend the function on the inaugural day, he said.
The summit, which will, among other things, deal with issues confronting farmers and farming in India, will see participation of nearly 50,000 farmers from across the country and abroad.
Badal reviewed the arrangements on the spot along with senior officials of the state's civil and police administration, he said.
The Chief Minister was informed that the entire Summit will be held on 135 acres, the spokesperson said.
There will be exhibitions, seminars and technical sessions on various aspects of agriculture with a special focus on emerging technologies, he said.
The events will be aimed at keeping the farming community abreast with modern practices and technological advancements, the spokesman said.
The Chief Minister has asked the Financial Commissioner, (Development) to invite leading world class agriculture equipment-manufacturing companies to display their products in the summit, he said.
