Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will have to pay heavy price for its misadventures in Panchayat elections, Punjab Congress chief Partap Singh Bajwa said here today.
Addressing an election rally organised by Congress MLA Brahm Mohindra, he blamed Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for total breakdown of law and order in Punjab and said, misadventures by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in the name of 'election engineering' will cost heavily to the Badals.
The cold blooded murder of Youth Congress leader and Congress candidate Sukhraj Singh Bhagupur and attack on Congress MLA Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi in Ferozepur were not isolated incidents, Bajwa said.
"Scores of violent incidents by the Akalis are reported from all over the state. It is a calculated conspiracy to spread panic and Punjab police is hobnobbing with the ruling party," he alleged adding that common people were feeling insecured due to spate of murders, robberies, kidnappings and assault on women.
Bajwa appealed to villagers not to allow the SAD-BJP government grab power in the Panchayats, Block Samitis and Zilla Parishad by unfair means.
He claimed that people were fed up with the misrule of the present dispensation and were waiting for an opportunity to teach them a lesson.
