"Ratnayake was full of praise for the cricket programmes and activities held in Bahrain. He also lauded the efforts of the Bahrain Cricket Association and their cooperation with the Asian Cricket Council, leading to several joint projects to develop the game in the Kingdom," said the Olympic Council of Asia's newsletter.

The meeting was attended by Ratnayake, Bahrain Olympic Committee's sports affairs executive director Noaman Al Hassan and Bahrain Cricket Association President Saleem Elyas.

Ratnayake, who played 23 Tests and 70 ODIs for Lanka in a career spanning 10 years (1983-1993), congratulated the new board of the BCA, headed by Elyas, who has new ideas on how to improve the game of cricket in Bahrain, the newsletter said.

Al Hassan thanked the ACC for supporting cricket in Bahrain and said he would submit the development proposals to the BOC for consideration and implementation, it added.
