A Bajrang Dal activist has been arrested in neighbouring Shamli district after a video went viral on social media purportedly showing him beating up a man from other community over alleged "love jihad", police said on Thursday.
A Sub-Inspector of police, who was also seen in the video while the accused was assaulting the man, has also been taken off duty for negligence, they said.
Pankaj Rathi was arrested on Wednesday and sent to jail for allegedly assaulting Shadab after he was found with a girl belonging to other community, they said.
The action was taken on the directives of Shamli SP Vineet Jaiswal, police said.
