Bal Sahitya award announced

Seven books of stories, six of poetry, one of novel, one of essays and eight writers for their total contribution to children literature have won the Bal Sahitya Puraskar this year.
The awards were recommended by distinguished jury members representing 24 Indian languages and approved by the executive board of the Sahitya Akademi which met under the chairmanship of Sahitya Akademi president Viswanath Prasad Tiwari, a release said.
Those who have won the awards for their collection of stories include Surya Ashok (Konkani), Rajkumar Bhubomsana (Manipuri), Munni Sapkota (Nepali) Kulbir Singh Suri (Punjabi), Neeraja Dahiya (Rajasthani) Era Natarajan (Tamil) and Dasari Venkaatraman (Telugu).
Those who have won the awards for their collection of poetry include Kaushalaya Brahma (Bodo), Dhilan Singh (Dogri), Dinesh Chamola Sailseh (Hindi) Late Jeevakant (Maithili), Kainhailal Tudu (Santali) and Mehboob Rahi (Urdu).
Dinesh Chandra Goswami (Assamese) for his book of essays and Hamid Siraj (Kashmiri) for his novelette has been honoured. There is no award for Sanskrit language.
Gouri Dharampal (Bengali), Subhadra Sen Gupta (English) Iswar Parmar (Gujarati), Anand V Patil (Kannada), KV Ramanathan (Malayalam), Madhiri Purandare (Marathi), Dash Benhur (Jitendra Naryan Dash) (Odia) and Vashdev Sindhu Bharati (Sindhi) are among those honoured with the Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2014 for their total contribution to children literature.
