"The administration has banned the proposed all-caste panchayat at Janata Inter College in Kheda village in the Sardhana area to press for the withdrawal of the National Security Act invoked against Som," a state home department spokesman said.
"In view of the bad experience of the panchayat held in Muzaffarnagar recently, the Meerut district magistrate has totally banned the holding of panchayats of any kind," the spokesman said.
The DM has issued strict orders for the officials concerned to prevent any kind of panchayat from being organised in the district, the spokesman added.
