Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmud Ali will visit India next month, the country's High Commissioner today said.
High Commissioner Syed Muazzem Ali, said that the Foreign Minister, who will arrive on a two-day visit on March 1, is also expected to hold a meeting with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the sidelines of an event, being organized by think-tank, on March 2.
"Bilateral relations have been fruitful and constructive. I am very happy that the relationship has been termed the best ever since 1974. We have tremendous scope for cooperation," Ali told reporters here.
Ali, who took charge in 2014, emphasised on the need to "hasten" the process of economic integration of the two countries.
"Today, inter-state relationship is pretty much based on economic cooperation, technical cooperation, investment among others.
"There are other problems but I am sure with goodwill and sincerity we will be able to resolve those. We should not spend all our time resolving past issues, we should also look at the future," he said.
Ali said a strong neighbourhood was of "common interest" of both the countries. "Security has always been a problem in our part of the world. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has dealt with these issues with an iron hand.
