With this, the travel time for motorists driving between east and south Delhi will shrink to less than an hour.
Addressing legislators at the Delhi Assembly on the first day of the Budget Session, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung said the third phase of the Barapullah elevated corridor has been sanctioned.
"The elevated corridor in Barapullah Nallah phase-III, from Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar has been sanctioned and is likely to be completed by December 2017," Jung said.
Extension of this elevated road towards the west, up to Aurobindo Marg falls under phase II.
The Lt Governor said that apart from this, two flyovers on the Outer Ring Road from Mukarba Chowk to Wazirabad and two loops and two bridges across the drain will be constructed soon.
He said 11 major roads are being redesigned for better traffic management and smooth pedestrian movement, and 10 new corridors are being finalised across Delhi for efficient and faster movement of traffic.
