Sanjaya Baru has resigned from the post of Secretary General of Ficci within nine months of joining the industry body.
"Sanjaya Baru, the current Secretary General, has decided to step down," Ficci said.
Dilip Chenoy has taken over as as Secretary General, it added.
Sources said Baru resigned because he did not gel with the organisation.
"Dilip had joined Ficci earlier as Director General and worked with Baru over the past few months, said Rashesh Shah, Ficci President.
Chenoy had resigned from National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in late 2015.
