"More people are expected to resign from the party in the coming days, especially in the Garo Hills, for their anti-party activities," state BJP general secretary Bashailang Khongwir told PTI.
He said people come and go and it is only democratic to let go and accept those who share the ideology of the party.
The statement came in the wake of reports of another resignation, that of a BJP youth leader in the western Garo Hills region today.
Danggo criticised the Centre's notification on cruelty to animals, which he termed "is focused" on the issue of cow slaughter.
"Banning slaughter means banning beef, as we cannot eat beef without slaughtering the animals," he said in his resignation letter.
The state BJP leadership has, however, denied having any information with regards to Danggo's resignation.
BJP state youth president Egenstar Kurkalang said he is yet to receive any letter from Danggo.
Danggo's resignation will be the third in the Garo Hills after West Garo Hills and North Garo Hills district presidents put in their papers in the past week over the issue.
