A two day business meet to attract investments from abroad to West Bengal, particularly from the Middle East, would be held here on January 9 and 10.
It would be organised by the Non-Resident Overseas Association of Bengal and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
President of BCCI Kallol Datta said today that a 50-member delegation would arrive here from countries like Canada, UK, Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait to explore business opportunities in the state.
Prominent among them were the Lulu Group of Dubai, Liberty Group of Sharjah, Alumasa Group of Saudi Arabia, Safari Group of Qatar, Nasir Bin Khalid Group of Qatar, Qatar Design Consortium and Grand Hotel Group of Qatar among others.
President of Qatar-based NROAB Nilangsu Dey said that the meet had been organised to showcase the state before major international business houses and to explore the possibility of sourcing inputs for export purposes.
The meet was expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and be attended by other ministers.
Director of UK-based Sun Consultancy Sudipto Bose said that his company would invest Rs 425 crore in the state in a hospital and infrastructure project.
