"Centre will support development projects of the state. The deep sea port will cost Rs 12,000 crore at Sagar," Gadkari said.
Banerjee named the proposed deep sea port as Bhor (Dawn) Sagar port.
He said it will 14.5 metre draft port that will use latest technology and this will be gateway to north east and South East Asia, he said.
He said government was giving highest priority to waterways transport where India lags behind. Water transport accounts for 44 per cent of goods movement while in India it is just three per cent.
In roads, Gadkari said Rs 12500 crore is lined up for modernising and broadening of 563 km NH 34 between Kolkata and Siliguri.
