High on confidence after beating East Bengal in their last outing, Bengaluru Football Club will be looking to consolidate the top spot in the I-League table when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa in the seventh round of the league here tomorrow.
Bengaluru FC managed to break the jinx of not winning a match against East Bengal in their backyard, as they posted a 1-0 win over the Bengal giants on January 30.
Bengaluru are currently sitting on the top of the table with 12 points from five matches with just one loss against Mumbai FC.
On the other hand, Goa are placed sixth with a win and two losses, besides a draw.
After a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Mumbai, Bengaluru had returned to winning ways in their last match by defeating East Bengal by a solitary goal with sheer artistry of captain Sunil Chetri.
Come tomorrow, Bengaluru will be keen to continue their winning run.
Coach Ashley Westwood, however, said that he is expecting more goals from his star strikers like Chetri, Alwyn George and Udanta Singh.
Bengaluru have scored just seven goals so far, of which Chetri bulged the net twice just in five matches, while C K Vineeth and striker Kim Seong Yong have also hit the net.
The home team will bank on John Johnson and Curtis Osano to make a fearsome two in the centre of defense, and Eugeneson Lyngdoh and Sankar Sampangiraj to marshall the midfield after Joshua Walker was released.
On the other hand, Goa are coming into the match with 0-1 defeat at the hands of Shillong Lajong, and it is imperative for them to stay disciplined and focused to pick three points.
Goa's midfield should get a shot in the arm with the return of Rowlin Borges.
Coach Mateus Costa will like to get the strategies right and avoid committing the same mistakes of the previous games.
Before they play their next match in their backyard against Salgaocar FC on February 11, Goa would like to increase their tally from four to seven points, especially after they had struggled at the back end of last season in a deeply contested relegation battle.
Though Goa have stuck to their plans since the first match, things haven't gone their way so far.
Tomorrow they would be hoping for their experienced Trinidad and Tobago midfield lynchpin Densil Theobald to come good.
