Betting racket busted in Bhopal; five held

Five persons were arrested and a betting syndicate, allegedly laying bets on cricket matches during the Champions League, was busted by the city police here.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in the Jawahar colony under Aishbagh police station limits yesterday and nabbed four persons from there, police said today.
Rs 10,300 cash, a register mentioning details of betting worth Rs 32 lakh, 13 mobile phones, three calculators, a television set and six SIM cards were seized from their possession, they said.
Another person was also arrested on charges of betting from the Shahjahanabad locality here, but police did not disclose his identity.
The other four accused, all belonging to Bhopal, have been identified as Yakoob, Arif, Zafar and Azhar, they added.
