Designing for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming period drama "Padmavati" is "exhaustive" but a "creatively fulfilling" experience for designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula.
Bhansali has roped in the duo as costume designers for "Padmavati", starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
The designers are apparently working on looks that have Turkish influences as well as the ones renowned in the 13th century in Chittor.
"To be working in tandem with Mr Bhansali's vision we have gone through a vast library of reference material, old documents and manuscripts as well as ancient traveler's accounts to come up with the looks," Harpreet said in a statement here.
"It has been an intensive and exhaustive process yet creatively very fulfilling as designers. Mr Bhansali is known for his keen eye for detail, the visuals he creates on the big screen are larger than life," Harpreet said.
Rimple hopes to work with the "Bajirao Mastani" helmer in future as well.
Viacom18 Motion Pictures has joined hands with Bhansali for the release of "Padmavati". The film is already on floors.
In the period drama, Shahid plays Raja Ratan Singh, Rajput ruler and husband of queen Padmavati essayed by Deepika, while Ranveer will be seen as Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who falls in love with Padmavati.
