Wushu player Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh, who won bronze at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, today dedicated his medal to slain policemen and their families in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhanu, a resident of Jammu, received a red carpet welcome on his arrival at the airport here.

He was then felicitated by Director General of Police DGP S P Vaid at Amar Singh club here.

Bhanu, who registered an emphatic quarterfinal victory over his Philippines rival in the men's 60-kg category on Tuesday, lost the semifinal bout against Erfan Ahangarian of Iran after suffering an injury in the ongoing Asian Games at Jakarta-Palembang on Wednesday.

"He has made Jammu and Kashmir Police, J&K and India proud by his victory. He is talented and his coach Kuldeep Handoo is also talented," the DGP told reporters here today.

He said he will recommend their names to the government for their promotion to the post of deputy superintendent of police.

Bhanu today said that he dedicates his medal to police martyrs and their families.

"I dedicate this medal to the martyr policemen and their families. I want to help them fully. If I grow, I will continue to help them more," Bhanu told reporters here.
