After performing the Bhoomi Pooja, he said of the total amount, Rs.Eight crore has been spent on acquiring land for the purpose.
After completion of the work, a flyover at a cost of Rs.75 crore would be constructed connecting four main roads in the city. For preliminary works like diverting underground drainage and electricity power lines, Rs.22.62 crore has been sanctioned by the Chief Minister, he said.
The statues of MGR, Kamaraj and E.V.K. Sampath, located at the Government Hospital junction would not be disturbed now. After completion of works for traffic island and flyover,they would be shifted to some other place in the same area with proper permission from government and political parties, he added.
