Bid to unite majority communities jitters parties:Vellappally

SNDP leader Vellapally Natesan today alleged that mainstream political parties were "deliberately" attacking him and tarnishing his image ever since he announced plans to form a new political party to unite majority communities.
"Ever since I declared my intention to form a new political party and unite majority communities, main stream parties started attacking me and my son Thushar with various allegations ranging from financial irregularities to murder," Natesan told a meet-the-press programme here.
The 79-year-old Natesan, General Secretary of Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam, an organisation of numerically-strong Ezhva community, made the statement in the wake of the state government's decision to initiate further probe into the death of former chief of Sivagiri mutt Swami Saswathikananda in 2002.

The further probe was ordered based on some fresh revelations into the case by Kerala Bar Hotel Owner's Association working president Biju Ramesh, who alleged that Swami's death was a murder and Natesan and Thushar had role in it.
Dismissing the allegations as baseless, Natesan said he was ready to face any probe but maintained that Swami's death was a 'jal samadhi'.
"Let the truth come out and clear all doubts. I believe that the further probe is the best way to root out all doubts in this regard. Nothing is going to happen to me," he said.

When asked about CPI(M) veteran V S Achuthanandan's charges of irregularities in the micro finance scheme run by SNDP, Natesan said the Left leader was resorting to some kind of "blackmail" against him and his family. "The micro finance scheme is running successfully and it has helped large number of women in the society to improve their standard of living," he said.

He challenged Achuthanandan to come out with evidences to prove allegations of financial malpractices against him.
Natesan also made it clear that if Achutanandan's move was to demoralise him mentally to roll back his decision to unite majority communities, "it is not going to succeed."
Indicating SNDP's inclination towards BJP, Natesan said the saffron party would win more seats in the coming civic polls.
To show the strength of majority communities in the state, a massive rally to be participated by over five lakh people, would be held here on December 5, he said.
