Shrivastava, who was suffering from cancer, died at 12:30 am. He was 51. He was being treated at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for over 40 days.
Shrivastava rose to fame with his compositions for films like "Chalte Chalte", "Baabul", "Baghban", "Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Rajneeti". He gave memorable numbers like "Sona sona", "Shava shava", "Gustakhiyaan" and "Gur Nalon Ishq Mitha".
