Two motorcycle borne miscreants shot dead a businesswoman in Bihar's Gaya district late Tuesday evening, a police officer said Wednesday.
Kotwali police station SHO Ajay Kumar said that the deceased has been identified as Radha Kumari (35).
She was residing with her Bhabhi and niece in a rented accommodation in Jheelganj area of the town, Kumar said adding that the businesswoman was shot dead by assailants merely 50 meters away from her residence.
The incident occurred around 9:45 pm Tuesday evening when she was returning on her scooty home after shutting down her cloth shop located in Gani market area under town police station, the SHO said.
The two bike borne miscreants overtook the deceased and shot at in her temple killing her on the spot, the SHO said.
She died on the spot due to excess bleeding, the police officer said.
City Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar, Town Dy SP Raj Kumar Sah and other police officials reached the spot after getting the information last evening.
Police had taken two persons in custody Tuesday night but let them off after finding them innocent, the SHO said adding that police are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
Call details record (CDR) of the deceased's mobile phone is being examined for culling more information, he said adding that police are investigating the matter from every possible angle.
Central Bihar Chamber of Commerce president Kaushalendra Pratap Singh condemned the killing of businesswoman and termed it as dastardly act.
