A biopic on American civil rights pioneer Fannie Lou Hamer is in development, with Gregory Allen Howard attached to write the script.
Chris Columbus' 1492 production company and Howard will produce the untitled project with Michael Barnathan, Mark Radcliffe and Jenny Blum, reported Variety.
No director or actors are yet attached to the project.
Hamer, who grew up in Mississippi as a sharecropper on a sixth-grade education, was a key organiser in the 1962 Freedom Summer for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.
