Aviation services provider Bird Group today said Swiss general aviation firm ExecuJet Aviation has taken it on board for setting up the country's first fixed-based operation (FBO) and MRO facilities at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.
Together with Bird Group, ExecuJet Aviation will develop and construct the facilities following a successful tender bid, a release said.
This would also mark the entry of the Zurich-headquartered global general aviation leader into the fast-growing Indian aviation market, it said.
A fixed-base operator (FBO) is a commercial business granted the right by an airport to operate there and provide aeronautical services such as fuelling, hangaring, parking, aircraft rental, aircraft maintenance, flight instruction, among others. MRO refers to maintenance, repair and overhaul.
"This is a significant win for ExecuJet as we have had India on our radar for many years. It will provide us with the platform to expand our geographic footprint and service proposition, in line with our growth strategy," ExecuJet Vice President Mike Berry said.
"The Bird Group is our perfect partner for this expansion programme," he said.
ExecuJet Aviation offers diverse range of services including aircraft management for private and commercial registered aircraft, aircraft charter and maintenance besides aircraft completions management and fixed base operations, among others.
It has operations in six regions - Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East and it manages 165 business jets as well as 19 world-class FBO facilities all across.
"ExecuJet has already established a leading global aviation business and we are delighted to be announcing partnership with them. In line with the Make in India programme, we shall be creating state-of-the-art infrastructure for private aircraft operators," Bird Group said in the release.
