"I will chair the meeting of Steel Consumers' Council in Mumbai tomorrow. Focus will be on innovative ideas towards growth of steel sector," the steel minister said in a tweet.
According to an official the meeting would provide a vibrant platform to discuss the domestic steel industry scenario, the global steel trends and benefits of using steel and also on how to boost the domestic steel consumption.
There has been continued thrust from the government to boost domestic steel consumption by exploring the versatile steel uses.
The steel ministry has also chalked out the road-map for the resilient steel sector, the official added.
Today the steel industry in India faces challenging external conditions manifest in slow economic growth and idle steel capacity globally.
With weak global economic prospects, the Indian steel industry will have to strongly depend on the growth of domestic consumption for its future.
