"The agitation is irrelevant as work in regard with the issues including water and electricity raised by him is under process or on the verge beginning or near completion", Rai told a press conference here.
Hence, the agitation was more to drive political mileage than in the interest of the masses, Rai said.
Rai alleged that the indefinite fast was aimed to influence the ongoing enquiry against him and his family members rather than in the interest of the general masses.
Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) was conducting a probe against Gupta and his family on alleged power theft.
Rai alleged that Gupta had procured four electricity connections illegally but did not pay bills against it for last seven years though two connections were later disconnected.
A former MLA, Rai also charged JSEB officials for having nexus with Gupta and did not carry out probe properly.
