"We are not against the GST bill. The BJP is trying to create a wrong perception among people that the Congress is not allowing the bill in the Rajya Sabha," Mistry told reporters here.
"I was member of the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha which had vetted the bill. The original bill of GST tabled by UPA government and the new GST bill brought by NDA government has many differences," the Congress MP in Rajya Sabha from Gujarat, said.
"The NDA government gave positive response on only one point and that was of removal of levy one per cent additional GST by states. However, they did not give positive response on other two issues. That is the reason GST bill has not passed," Mistry claimed.
He said he has come here to clarify that Congress is not responsible for non-passing of GST bill in the Rajya Sabha.
