Sursinh Mori, chairman of Junagadh district panchayat's education committee surrendered himself before Kodinar police last night and was arrested, police said.
Mori and Kodinar Bajrang Dal president Balu Hansraj were named in police chargsheet in the 2003 communal riots, where 12 persons were arrested and Una sessions court sentenced them to 15 years rigorous imprisonment in November last year.
However, Mori and Balu Hansraj were shown absconding in police report.
Mori surrendered himself following a warrant issued by Una court, police said.
The 12 who were sentenced 15 year RI were facing charges of attempt to murder on a police team which was controlling riots in the town, police added.
