Senior BJP leader and former Odisha minister Samir Dey along with nearly two dozen party workers today shaved off their hair as a mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajapyee, who passed away on August 16.
Dey and the BJP workers gathered at the bank of river Mahanadi here in the morning and after tonsuring their heads, they performed "Tila Tarpana", a mark of reverence to the departed soul by offering linseed in the river waters.
A condolence meeting was also organised at the river bank which was attended by a number of BJP leaders, including some activists from BJP Mahila Morcha.
