Heera Lal Raigar had allegedly made the remarks during a public meeting in Tonk last week and an FIR was lodged by a local Congress leader yesterday, they said.
The FIR was lodged with Purani Tonk police station under Sections 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on ground of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (statements conducing public mischief) of IPC. "The case has been referred to CID for investigation," the local police said.
Meanwhile, protesting over the derogatory remarks, Rajasthan Pradesh Mahila Congress workers, led by Congress leader Shakuntla Rawat, held a demonstration and burnt an effigy of the BJP MLA.
