Veteran BJP MLA Ratan Chakraborty was today sworn in as protem speaker of Tripura Assembly.
Governor Tathagata Roy administered the oath to Chakraborty at the Raj Bhavan here.
Chakraborty, a former Congress minister, said he would administer oath to the newly-elected MLAs tomorrow at the state Assembly.
The BJP-Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) swept the February 18 elections in Tripura, bagging 43 out of the 59 seats in the 60-member House.
Elections in Charilam constituency was postponed due to the death of CPI(M) candidate Ramendra Narayan Debbarma.
The first session of the new Assembly would be convened from March 23, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb told PTI.
He said vote on account would be presented during the week-long session instead of a full-fledged Budget.
