"The MP ended her hunger strike last night after 30 hours following an assurance from the district administration and also considering her falling health conditions," BJP district President Shyam Karan Tekdiwal said.
The MP was admitted to the district hospital where her condition was stated to be stable, he said.
Earlier, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Amitabh Yadav met the MP and conveyed her the DM's message that work on the dam would be stopped and a technical committee will be constituted that will take the villagers into confidence before the construction is resumed.
The MP went on a hunger strike on May 17 deprecating that consent of affected people was not taken before construction of the project and demanded that cases against the villagers who had protested earlier be dropped
The Bahraich MP had earlier raised apprehension that 68 villages would get marooned if the 11 km-long dam was constructed on the river near Gopia Barrage.
