BJP questions Congress over silence on Virbhadra's resignation

Hitting out at Congress over its defence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who was booked by CBI in disproportionate assests case, the BJP asked how much commission Singh had given to the main opposition party and also questioned its silence over demands for his resignation.
BJP's Himachal in-charge Shrikant Sharma criticised the Congress for its "double standards" over corruption, noting that it had stalled Parliament over the issue but has kept mum despite registration of a criminal case against Singh.
"After registration of an FIR, Singh has no moral right to continue in his office. He must resign immediately. What is the reason that the Congress leadership is saving a leader involved in corruption? It should tell us how much commission it received from his corruption," Sharma said in a statement.

He alleged that the BJP had been raising the issue of involvement of the veteran Congress leader in corruption but the previous UPA government had protected him. The CBI's case now has proved BJP right, he said.
People of India had "punished" Congress for its "scams" like 2G, coalgate and Commonwealth games and now the people of Himachal will punish it, he claimed.
The CBI registered a case against Singh and raided his residence and 12 other places in Shimla and Delhi yesterday in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
CBI sources had alleged that Singh got an unexplained income of Rs 6.1 crore in the 2009-11 period when he was serving as the Minister of Steel in the Congress-led UPA government. They alleged that Singh while serving as the Union minister invested Rs 6.1 crore in life insurance policies in his and his family members' names through an LIC agent.

Congress had termed the case as inhumane and political vendetta.
