The Delhi BJP today requested Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to seek report from the state government over the implementation of Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act - 2011.
A delegation comprising of three BJP MLAs, including Vijender Gupta, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Legislative Assembly said the state government is "blatantly violating" rights of citizens to provide for delivery of services within stipulated time limit under the Delhi (Right of Citizen to Time Bound Delivery of Services) Act - 2011.
"The Act guarantees citizens right to obtain a wide spectrum of services according to a time-bound schedule. But these rights have been violated without any concern for citizens during the last six months of the Kejriwal Government
"Lt Governor, today assured that he would seek the report from the Chief Secretary, Delhi Government within-a-week about implementation of the Act pertaining to citizens' right to time-bound delivery of services," Gupta said in a statement.
Gupta said all endeavours to obtain information concerning
the implementation of the Act have fallen on deaf ears.
"The Government departments appear to be blank on various stipulations under the Act. The nodal officers have no clear idea how many citizens have been provided information under the Act," he added.
Under the Act every citizen has the right to obtain citizen-related services in Delhi in accordance with the Act within the time-bound period as stipulated in the schedule.
The services cover almost every department of the Delhi Government - Revenue, Transport, Chief Electoral Office, Drug Control, Weights and Measures, Welfare of SC/ST/OBC/Minority, and Labour.
