BJP and RSS have finally understood the value of Mahatma Gandhi which is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invoking his principles for "political gains", former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said today.
"PM Narendra Modi has to invoke Gandhiji to do politics. After 65 years, BJP and RSS have now understood the value of Gandhi and therefore, they have started calling him a 'Mahapurush' (greatman)," alleged Gehlot while speaking to reporters at PCC office here.
"It means that RSS and BJP should apologise to people that they could not recognise and understand Gandhi for 65 years. Accepting Gandhi means that they will have to follow the principles, policies and programmes of Congress," he said.
Gehlot also sought to equate Aam Aadmi Party's ideology with that of Mahatma Gandhi and Congress party and said that the AAP's poll manifesto for Delhi Assembly elections had the same sentiments which Gandhi and Congress party had. "They contested on that principles and won in Delhi," he said.
The Congress leader said that the party high command was very much concerned over the debacle in Delhi Assembly polls.
"The party highcommand has sought block level feedback from all the states and on the basis of that, decision will be taken to strengthen the party," he stated.
