Several leaders of opposition Congress today lashed out at Madhya Pradesh government over prevailing law and order situation in the state and its performance on social front.
Top leaders like Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, union ministers Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Leader of Opposition in MP Assembly Ajay Singh criticised Shivraj Singh Chouhan government while addressing a rally here.
"Madhya Pradesh is number one in cases of rapes in the country. Thousands of farmers are jailed for non-payment of power bills. A large number of farmers have committed suicide and the number of malnourished children in the state is also very large," they said.
Leading the pack, Digvijay Singh said BJP would be voted out of power in the forthcoming Assembly elections for its misrule. "I have always felt that BJP is a fascist party which grabs power by making alluring promises and then using power to do business," he said.
Digvijay said BJP leaders were "cowards" and should be "handled carefully".
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath said the global image of Madhya Pradesh under the BJP rule has become of one such state where the number of suicides committed by farmers in the country is the highest.
"During the BJP rule in Madhya Pradesh since 2003, the number of old industries closed is more than the number of new industries opened," he said.
Nath said "a visible wave for change" was sweeping through Madhya Pradesh which will throw BJP out of power.
Taking a dig at Chouhan on his Jan Ashirvad yatra, the minister said, "the chief minister can take out as many yatras as he likes but people have seen through him and he can no longer fool them."
Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Prakash alleged that BJP has the legacy of corrupt leaders.
