BJP's Muslim poster boy Shahnawaz loses in Bhagalpur

While BJP and its allies won in hordes in Bihar riding on the Modi wave, BJP's Muslim poster boy Shahnawaz Hussain faced defeat at the hands of RJD by a slender margin of 9,485 votes at Bhagalpur seat.
RJD's Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal bagged 3,67,623 votes while Shahnawaz Hussain secured 3,58,138 votes.
The JD(U) which had strategically put up a Muslim candidate in Abu Kaiser played spoilsport to Shahnawaz as its nominee got 1,32,256 votes.
Shahnawaz had won the seat comfortably as an NDA candidate in 2009.
