BJP MLA Ranbir Gangwa was on Tuesday unanimously elected as the deputy speaker of the Haryana Assembly.
The Nalwa legislator's name was proposed by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala.
Speaker Gian Chand Gupta told the House that as only one name had been proposed, Gangwa was declared elected unanimously.
Khattar, Dushyant and Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda congratulated Gangwa after he was elected as deputy speaker.
Hooda said he thoughtthe deputy speaker's post would go to the opposition, "but did not oppose Gangwa's name as he is a good person."
