As part of his party's "Contact for Support" campaign, BJP president Amit Shah today met veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar and discussed several "transformative initiatives" of the Narendra Modi government with him.
"Met veteran journalist and former member of Rajya Sabha, Shri Kuldip Nayar ji, as part of 'Sampark For Samarthan'. Glad to see his energy level even at this age. Discussed with him several transformative initiatives & unprecedented work done by Modi govt in the last 4 years (sic)," Shah tweeted.
As the Modi government completed four years in office, the BJP has launched a mega public drive -- "Sampark se Samarthan" (contact for support) -- wherein 4,000 functionaries of the saffron party will get in touch with one lakh people, who are well-known in their fields, to spread the word about the government's works.
Shah will himself contact about 25 persons, the party had said. Launching the exercise, the BJP president had met former Army chief Dalbir Singh Suhag and ex-secretary general of the Lok Sabha Subhash Kashyap on May 29.
Earlier this week, he had also met industrialist Ratan Tata and actress Madhuri Dixit.
The BJP president had earlier said the campaign was aimed at informing the people of the country about the various government initiatives that had resulted in improving their living standards.
In its fifth year, the BJP-led government would aim to bring about a change in the lives of farmers by offering them one-and-a-half times the input cost for their produce and give a Rs-5 lakh health insurance coverage to 50 crore people, Shah had said.
