The government yesterday had rejected Delhi Lokayukta Justice Manmohan Sarin's request to "resubmit" its report against Dikshit to the President for review of an earlier decision in a case relating to alleged misrepresentation of facts by her on construction of low-cost flats.

As soon as the House began proceedings, senior BJP leader V K Malhotra along with number of senior party MLAs slammed the government for rejecting the Lokayukta's request and demanded a discussion on the matter.

When Shastri allowed Congress MLA Mukesh Sharma to raise the issue of recent incidents of building collapse while refusing to heed to BJP MLAs demand, the opposition MLAs shouted slogans protesting the Speaker's decision following which the House was adjourned for 20 minutes.

The situation did not change when the House reassembled as BJP legislators continued their protest following which the Speaker ordered the Marshalls to remove them.

"In last four years, out of 84 days of Assembly session, he (Shastri) has kept Opposition members out for almost 40 days. He is not allowing us to raise our issues, we have decided to bring a no-confidence motion against the Speaker," Leader of Opposition, Malhotra said.

He alleged that Shastri was working for the ruling Congress party which was against the parliamentary norms.

Congress said it will bring a breach of privilege motion against Malhotra tomorrow and accused the BJP of not showing "any respect" to the Speaker who occupies a Constitutional post. (More)
