Demanding a probe into the transfers in the state education department, BJP's youth wing today held protests here and accused the government of violating the Model Code of Conduct.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), led by its state president, Ravinder Raina, shouted slogans and burnt effigies of Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Tara Chand outside the office of the Director, School Education at Muthi in Jammu.
Even after the Election Commission imposed the Model Code of Conduct, illegal transfers are being made in the education department on "back dates" under the directions of the education minister after "taking bribe", Raina alleged.
He had earlier said that the PRO of Chand had levelled allegations of corruption against the Minister, but no action was taken by the Omar Abdullah government.
Raina demanded a CBI inquiry into the transfer scam and stern action against the guilty.
