Air-conditioner maker Blue Star, which recently forayed into air coolers, is targeting sales of about Rs 150 crore in the next three years from the segment.

The company, which did a select-market launch of its air coolers in North India, plans to expand the portfolio by April-May.

"Our aim is to do at least Rs 150 crore business from the air cooler segments in next three years," Blue Star Executive Director and President, AC and Refrigeration Products, B Thiagarajan told PTI.

After the pilot launch last week, he said: "In next six months, it would have a pan India presence."

Besides, Blue Star has also forayed into air purifier segment.

Thiagarajan, who is slated to assume the role of Joint Managing Director from April 1, said the reason for entering the air cooler and air purifier segments is to fill gaps in the company's product portfolio.

"Our idea is that as a related product category, we should be present there," he said.

On manufacturing plans for the new segments, he said, at present, the company is sourcing from a third party through contract manufacturing.

Blue Star would consider manufacturing when volumes pick up, Thiagarajan added.

The firm, which mainly sells a range of air-conditioning and commercial refrigeration products, clocked a revenue of Rs 3,080.79 crore in fiscal 2015.
