Justice S G Shah of Gujarat High Court sent notices to the prosecution (state police).
Shah also filed an appeal for suspension of the sentence awarded by the trial court.
The high court has posted hearing on both the appeals tomorrow.
On Monday, Shah was sentenced to five years of imprisonment by a local court which also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000, after being convicted under IPC sections 304(2) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and 279 for rash driving.
The court had directed Shah to pay a compensation of Rs five lakh each to the families of two youths killed in the accident.
