They were identified as Chotikumari alias Simran Singh and Sneha More.
Police believe it to be a case of suicide.
"The deceased girls along with two other girls and four boys had left home on Saturday and went for an outing in Kharadi. After spending a few hours there, they returned to the house of one of the girls. The sister of one of the deceased girls called her and said her father was angry with her," said a police officer at Chandannagar police station.
The girls then switched off their phones and the boys could not call them back.
Families of both the girls lodged complaints of missing and kidnapping by unidentified persons on Sunday.
"The boys did not tell us about the call made by the girls, but after the bodies were found today, they told us about the call," said the officer.
