The body of a 12-year old girl, suspected to have been sexually assaulted, was recovered near a police station in Bihar's Rohtas district today, triggering violent protests in the area.
Police said that a mob, angry over recovery of the body of the victim, burnt some police jeeps and jammed Dehri-Nasriganj road for several hours with the body.
Station House Officer of Rajpur Police Station Satish Kumar said that the police recovered the body of the girl by the roadside near the police station this morning.
The girl was missing since last evening.
The SHO said prima facie it appeared that the girl was sexually assaulted and her body thrown on the roadside by perpetrators of the crime.
