: A body of an infant girl child was found floating in Pachin river at Borpani in Naharlagun, police said.
Naharlagun Police station Investigation Officer Sushant Jha said that as per information from locals, the body was spotted at around 2.30 PM yesterday.
The body was fished out and it was found to be 4-5 days old, he said.
Jha said that investigation revealed that there was no such institutional delivery in the Naharlagun township and if the parents hailed from the town, it was possible that the delivery might have been done at home as the umbilical cord was found hanging from the body.
The body has been kept at R K Mission Hospital morgue for the next 72 hours for identification after which post mortem would be done. The DNA would be preserved, Jha added.
