A resident of Ranchi, Shukla laid down his life fighting the terrorists, who had stormed the Army camp in Uri in Kashmir yesterday.
The slain hero's parents, father S K Shukla and mother Sushma were present when the plane touched down the airport around 10 pm.
The family stays at Booty More in the state capital.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the martyrdom of Sankalp Kumar Shukla will be remembered by future generations in the state.
