Booker Prize winners, Ben Okri and Anne Enright, along with this year's Pulitzer Prize poetry winner Vijay Seshadri are among the highlights at the upcoming international literary festival here.
Desi literary legends, Gulzar, Kiran Nagarkar, Javed Akhtar as well as historian Ramachandra Guha are also been scheduled to participate in the 5th edition of the Mumbai LitFest Tata Literature Live! scheduled here between October 30 to November 2.
According to organisers, the festival aims to reach a wider audience by reaching out to larger audiences.
"Over the weekend the festival would be concurrently held in North Mumbai, at the Prithvi Theatre and The Easel, in Juhu" Festival Director Anil Dharker said.
"There have been many requests from suburban enthusiasts asking us to move closer to them, so we're making a beginning this year by going to Prithvi Theatre. This will enable Mumbai's only international literary festival to reach out to an even wider audience," Dharker said.
Three new categories of awards - Poet Laureate, the Book of the Year Fiction and Non-Fiction, as well as Business Book Award - in addition to the ongoing awards, First Book Award and the Landmark Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award- would also be given away.
US-based author, Akhil Sharma, whose book "Family Life" has received rave reviews is expected to share his experience at the festival.
The festival will feature a special performance to commemorate Shakespeare's 450th birth anniversary, with a choir singing his songs set to music, accompanied by a Canadian pianist.
Another special session to commemorate the celebrated poet, Dylan Thomas's birth centenary has been scheduled to be held in the presence of the First Minister of Wales, Rt. Hon Carwyn Jones AM, and two Welsh poets, Eurig Salisbury and Rhian Edwards.
